Rites upon the Death of a Bishop

A woodcut depicting funeral rites performed upon the death of a bishop. The body of the deceased bishop is laid on an ornate bier while five presiding bishops stand at each corner of the bier and at the head, offering prayers. The scene is flanked by a pair of cherubs holding rings and kneeling atop helmets. The woodcut is reused throughout the work.
