History and Vision of Centering Prayer & Contemplative Outreach, Thomas Keating & William Meninger
Thomas Keating and William Meninger Reflect on Centering Prayer and Contemplative Outreach
Fr. Keating and Fr. Meninger, two Trappist monks who were, along with Fr. Basil Pennington, giants in the Centering Prayer movement, have an intimate conversation led by Fr. Carl Arico, a founding member of CO who has known Fr. Keating since 1969. They talk about the early history of Centering Prayer and Contemplative Outreach and the origin of these names, and share their vision for the movement and for growing ecumenism and interfaith dialogue. A written history by Fr. Thomas that gives further context to this oral history is the Introduction to his book "Intimacy with God - An Introduction to Centering Prayer."
