Original Label for 픔념긔별젼 (Embroidery of Chongkyo Methodist Church)

The label originally created to identify the piece of embroidery gifted to Joseph Lumpkin Gerdine by the churches of the Seoul Circuit in 1913, which is included as part of the Joseph Lumpkin Gerdine collection (MSS 280). The church depicted in the embroidery was incorrectly identified as Chungdong First Methodist Church's Bethel Chapel, the first Methodist Church founded in Korea by missionaries from the Methodist Episcopal Church. Following research conducted in 2023-2024 by Sangeon Kim, the label was updated to accurately identify the church as Chongkyo Methodist Church, founded by missionaries from the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
