Ambrose Christian (Coffee County, Ga.)
Ambrose is a small town located in Coffee County that was started in 1899 soon after the AB&A railroad came into that area. That is when Dennis Vickers and J.J. Phillips gave the land to build the town of Ambrose Ga. Ambrose has a population of around 500 people and is mostly known for good farming land. Ambrose is located 12 miles west of Douglass GA on the AB&A Railroad and is growing as the county grows. On June 10, 1915, J.J. Holland gave the land and Ambrose Christian Church was founded. The church still has the original Georgian heart pine floors, original Georgian glass windows, and light fixtures. Some of the furniture is original cured oak pews, and it still has the original in-floor baptismal pool. The bead board walls have been restored to their original beauty. Ambrose Christian Church has never owed a penny to the bank . It has always been and to this day is debt free. [Description from a local history submitted to HRCGA]
