Summary: This is the second printing of Luther's Lenten Postils separate from other sermon collections. Kohl of Regensburg had issued the first printing the previous year. Of interest is the large initial on page a3a.Signatures: A6, B-V4, X, X2, x3, [x4], y-z4, a-v4, 2x-2z4, *4; [A] , t3 unsigned, x3-4, y-z signed with small letters both times.Illustrative and Decorative Content: Title within engraved woodcut border; initials throughout.Binding: Bound in blind-stamped calf over wooden boards. It is decorated in gold with corner pieces, claps missing. The top, fore and tail edges are gauffered.Additional Details: This volume was formerly in the Beck Lutherana collection, #427 and in the W.H. Stifel collection, #257. There are manuscript bibliographical notes on the upper flyleaf. On the third flyleaf is a former ownership mark, as well as manuscript marginalia in the text.
